28' x 8' x 3' 9" draft Ferry type launch designed by George Forbes and built by G & J Forbes in 1905/6 at Sandhaven, near Fraserburgh. Fitted with the first commercially sold Kelvin Engine, a 14/16hp 4 cylinder unit. Built and used as a ferry on the Balta Sound on the east coast of the island of Unst, Shetland Islands.

Balta Sound was a favorite anchorage and base for the many fishing boats in the Northern Isles, hence the need for a ferry to go ashore for food etc. in the village of Baltasound.
