The Golden Jubilee, 1954

At a jubilee celebration of The Bergius Co., makers of the Kelvin engines, held in Glasgow on June 11, no fewer than 72 of the company's employees were presented with gold watches and testimonials in recognition of their long service. All of them had served more than 25 years, and 20 of them for more than 40 years, These 20 received an additional gift of £100 each, and the entire staff of 370 were given an extra week's pay.

In speaking about the progress of the company since its formation in 1904, Mr. D. W. Willocks, the chairman, ascribed much of its success to the industry, individuality, inventiveness and integrity of its founder, the late Mr. Walter Bergius.
